Hello, Bonjour
Let me tell you a bit about myself:
I began my nursing career at the tender age of 18 when I found myself in England after a brief return to my birth place in Scotland. My family and I moved to Canada when I was 1 year old in search of a better life. After 16 years we returned to Scotland due to my mothers courageous battle with breast cancer. My mother passed away six months after our return. At 18 I had the opportunity to move to England where my cousin encouraged me to apply to a Health Care Aide position at the hospital she was a matron at in Warwickshire. I never thought that this is where I would find myself living or working at any point in my young life. So in 1986 I started as a student nurse in rural England.
I returned to Canada in 1997 with my 7 year old daughter and after several years working various low paying jobs whilst attending Mohawk College New Start Program I was able to resume my career as an RN at the Henderson hospital in Hamilton.
Since beginning my journey in this field, my dedication to the work and motivation to grow have led me to exceptional projects and experiences. I would be lying if I said that getting here was not a struggle because it was! There were some moments where I truly wanted to give up the journey but I had come to far! I had a young daughter to provide for emotionally and financially but I also wanted to show her that you should not give up and that adversity can truly make you stronger!
I’m grateful for a profession I’m passionate about, and am proud to share examples of some of achievements. Please take a moment to check out my portfolio, and let me know what your thoughts are!
